Labor Day has passed and the Cape's building season is on the clock. If you want a new deck finished, inspected, and usable before the holidays, this is the window to order the boards. Stonewood Products has American Pro Legacy PVC decking in Driftwood and Khaki in stock right now at both its Harwich and Mashpee locations, which means the material is not the thing standing between you and a finished project this year. Time is.
Why September is the real deadline
Most homeowners think about deck timing backward. They picture the install date and work forward from there, when the schedule actually has to be built backward from the weather. On Cape Cod, a PVC deck can go down comfortably into November, but the steps before the install, permitting, contractor scheduling, and footing work in ground that has not yet frozen, all compress fast once fall weather arrives. Builders who take fall work are already booking into their remaining open weeks. The homeowners who call this month get on that calendar. The homeowners who call in late October are looking at spring.
Buying the boards early does not commit you to a date. It just means that once a contractor has an opening, or once you decide to tackle the job yourself, the material is not the bottleneck. Stonewood has both colors on the floor today, in the lengths most Cape decks need, ready for same-visit pickup.
Two colors, already stocked
Stonewood carries American Pro Legacy PVC decking in Driftwood and Khaki, the two tones that read most naturally against the Cape's grey-shingle and weathered-cedar homes. Both are solid, through-the-board cellular PVC with a low-gloss wood-grain surface, so there is no film to wear through and no color layer to fade unevenly. Neither will rot, splinter, or wick moisture the way a wood deck does after one more Cape winter.

Both colors are stocked in the 1 inch by 5.5 inch profile in 12, 16, and 20 foot lengths, and every board carries American Pro's 25-year residential warranty. If you have not seen the colors in person, request free hand samples before you commit, or stop into either Stonewood store and hold a full-size board against your own siding and railing.

None of these dates are hard deadlines. They are the difference between a deck you use this year and one you plan for next spring. The only step in that timeline that depends on us is the first one, and the boards are already sitting on the floor in Harwich and Mashpee.
Where to find them
Stonewood serves Cape Cod, the South Shore, and Southeastern Massachusetts directly, and reaches the Islands via the Woods Hole and Hyannis ferry routes to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Full details are on the Stonewood Products dealer page.
