Deck Board Profiles

Three board profiles.
One for every fastener.

Every American Pro deck board is 1 in. x 5-1/2 in. cellular PVC. What changes is the edge. Pick the profile that matches how you want to fasten the deck, in either Legacy PVC or TrueGrain Deck™.

The Three Profiles

Same board.
Three edges.

Drawn from our production profiles. Same compound, same colors, same warranty within each line. Only the fastening method changes.

Questions

Board profiles,
answered.

Keep reading: the InvisiClip™ system, Legacy PVC, and TrueGrain Deck™.

What deck board profiles does American Pro offer?

Three. Solid Edge boards have square edges and are face screwed with color-matched plugs. Grooved Edge boards have a slot in each side edge for standard grooved-edge hidden clips. Grooved for InvisiClip boards have square side edges and two dovetail channels on the underside that seat onto InvisiClip clips pre-set on aluminum rails. All three are 1 in. x 5-1/2 in. and are offered in both Legacy PVC and TrueGrain Deck.

What is the difference between Grooved Edge and Grooved for InvisiClip?

Where the groove is. Grooved Edge has a slot cut into each side edge, so a standard hidden clip slides in between two boards and fastens through the gap. Grooved for InvisiClip keeps square side edges and moves the grooves to the underside as two dovetail channels, which press down onto InvisiClip clips already set on an aluminum rail.

Can I use Grooved Edge boards with InvisiClip?

No. InvisiClip clips engage the two underside channels, and only the Grooved for InvisiClip profile has them. Likewise, Grooved for InvisiClip boards do not have side slots for standard grooved-edge clips. Order the profile that matches the fastening method on your plans.

Which profile should I use for picture framing and stairs?

Solid Edge. Its square edges finish cleanly at borders, breaker boards, and stair treads, and it face fastens with color-matched plugs. Many hidden-fastener decks pair Solid Edge boards at the perimeter and stairs with a grooved profile across the field.

Do all three profiles come in Legacy PVC and TrueGrain?

Yes. Legacy PVC and TrueGrain Deck are both offered in Solid Edge, Grooved Edge, and Grooved for InvisiClip, so you choose the look first and the fastening method second.

Has the InvisiClip profile been wind-uplift tested?

Yes. American Pro decking installed on InvisiClip was tested by Intertek under ICC-ES AC174 using ASTM E330. Three specimens averaged 306 psf ultimate uplift and 292 psf sustained.
